Inspiration

With the sense of belonging and togetherness that a Campfire invigorates, we wanted to figure out a way to bring friends together. In our group chats with friends, we find that people are constantly asking if other people are planning to eat at certain times. However, this often leads to a tedious, repetitive back-and-forth of schedule adjustment and figuring out which dining hall to go to. Oftentimes, even though people don't necessarily want to eat alone, plans fall apart because it's too tedious to schedule a quick meal during a busy school day.

What it does

When2Eat is essentially a casual scheduling website, inspired by when2meet and Google calendar, where you map out your meal times for the next two days and see if they match up with your friends' planned meal times!

How we built it

This is a mock-up created through Figma.

Challenges we ran into

We needed to differentiate ourselves from When2Meet, Google Calendar, and other scheduling websites/apps that already exist. Our user experience is different from those apps because it is intended for more certain, current planning within the next 2 days. The user fills it out with the times that they actually plan to eat rather than all times that they are available, eliminating the preliminary back-and-forth that friends have when they try to plan meals together. This also makes it less cumbersome to plan out casual meals together during the school week.
