When the Sea Forgot the Shore is a dark bardic lament crafted to immerse viewers in the emotional and mythic undercurrents of the Sundered Realms. Inspired by folk superstition, eldritch horror, and nautical folklore, this video is part of my ongoing effort to expand the Sunderer and Whispers from the Weald universe into new media formats. The lyrics echo the fate of a doomed voyage — not just a descent into the sea, but into madness, loss of identity, and supernatural possession.

The video blends AI-generated visuals with sound design rooted in Suno’s haunting tonalities, spoken-word overlays, and layered harmony to evoke the feeling of something ancient and watching from beneath. The crew is not merely drowned — they are unmade, their voices overtaken by the Depthless One's song.

This piece was built as part of a broader transmedia project, using:

Suno for the vocal and instrumental arrangement (with stylised prompts to control tone and atmosphere)

MidJourney, and KlingAI, to generate cinematic visual sequences and frame transitions

DaVinci Resolve for final compilation, effects layering, and pacing

The greatest inspiration for this piece came from World Building lore from my novels — the idea of unseen forces that do not need to rise; only to pull down. What began as a simple sea shanty evolved into a fully immersive audiovisual warning: some songs drown you slowly.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was managing limb and facial distortions, particularly in background characters within crowd scenes. Many clips became unusable as a result, forcing me to adjust my approach by specifying slower movements in the prompts and limiting the number of characters per shot.
