Inspiration

This winter, I wanted to recreate a Christmas scene using the Renaissance art style.

What it does

  • It's a 3D scene made using Blender.
  • I've used the Renaissance art style.
  • Shows an old living room graced by Santa.

How I built it

  • I built it using Blender & Photoshop.
  • Modelling
    • The basic geometry modelling of the chair, furnace & candle was done.
    • This was followed by bevelling, application of modifiers etc.
  • Sculpting
    • The christmas tree was made by sculpting a couple of spheres into the branches and leaves.
    • Cushions were sulpted into the chairs.
  • Texturing
    • The texturing was done in the Renaissance art style.
    • The goal was to give the models an old, pixelated look.

Challenges & accomplisments we ran into

  • I had to research quite a bit on the Renaissance art style and the paint styles used in that period.
  • Rendering took lots of time and resource.

What we learned

  • I learned quite a bit about arit in the Renaissance period.
  • I improved my Blender skills.
  • Learned about various texture painting techniques.

What's next for When Santa Came

  • I want to create more scenes using the same style
  • With more time I plan to expand on the current scene and add models & animation too.
