Inspiratiion
“When?” is my artistic plea to a world drifting away from itself. We scroll instead of seeing, swipe instead of feeling, consume instead of connecting. Modern life tells us we are more linked than ever — yet the truth is we have never been more alone.
Screen addiction has crept into every corner of our lives, quietly shaping how we think, speak, love, raise our children, and move through the world. Even our youngest—those still learning who they are—are inheriting our disconnect. They are growing up watching us look down, not up.
This video asks: When did the simple things slip through our fingers? When did presence become optional? And more importantly, when will we notice what we are losing? If we do not stop and reclaim ourselves now, we risk a future where humanity forgets how to feel, how to look into another’s eyes, how to exist without distraction.
“When?” is not just a question — it is a warning, and a hope.”
What it does
WHEN? highlights how screen addiction is disconnecting us from real life and from each other. It reveals how our constant scrolling is shaping a younger generation and urges viewers to pause, look up, and reconnect.
How we built it
I created WHEN? using AI-generated visuals. Symbolic scenes, and careful editing to blend modern disconnection with moments of human presence. The pacing, imagery, and sound work together to deliver an emotional message without dialogue.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was finding the right balance between strong messaging and artistic subtlety and futuristic imagery. Creating believable crowd scenes and maintaining emotional flow required multiple iterations and refined prompting for generations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that the film resonates instantly — many viewers said it made them reflect on their own habits. I’m also proud of blending AI with storytelling to create something meaningful and visually striking.
What we learned
That even with advanced tools, intention and heart drive the story. And that people deeply recognise the cost of digital distraction — the message connects because it’s real.
What's next for WHEN?
To expand it into a series of short films about presence, connection, and digital awareness. I also hope to share it in schools and community spaces to spark conversations about healthier screen habits.
