Inspiration
With the ever growing spike in Autism diagnosis in the UK, managing the overwhelm caused by social situations is becoming increasingly important for Autistics managing their daily lives. Burnouts and emotional shutdowns can have drastic effects on Autistics lives so that finding a healthy balance between a work and life becomes more of a challenge.
What it does
Whelmy keeps track of how the user's daily activities affect their mood and energy levels and recognises when they are at risk of social overwhelm. The app then recommends that the user takes more time for themselves. As well as providing calming activity suggestions, the app also has an emotional support animal friend. The animal friend is always ready with the right motivational message for the situation and their mood and energy levels change to reflect the user's.
There is also the option to purchase upgrades on the app, which provide more detailed analysis of overwhelm, more background aesthetics and, of course, allow the user to acquire different animal friends and accessories for them such as headphones.

What's next for Whelmy
In the future Whelmy will also be able to incorporate the user's sleep data into its calculations, to better determine the user's true level of social overwhelm.
