Inspiration
Ever stared at your phone for 20 minutes wondering "What do I even say back to this?" Yeah, me too. That’s when I thought — what if I had a sibling-like AI that could first roast my lame text idea, then help me write something way better?
Boom. WhatToText.ai was born — your AI companion with savage sibling energy.
What it does
WhatToText.ai is an AI-powered text suggestion tool that:
- Roasts your original message (just like a brutally honest sibling would),
- Then replaces it with a smarter, sharper, or more charming version.
Whether you're texting your crush, ghosting someone politely, or sending a professional reply — it’s got your back (but not before making fun of you first).
How we built it
- Built using Bolt.new with no-code tools and AI prompt chains.
- Designed a clean, mobile-first one-page layout.
- Crafted prompt logic that balances insult + help in a fun sibling tone.
- Deployed using Bolt’s built-in hosting. ## Challenges we ran into
- Running out of Bolt credits mid-way slowed development.
- AI outputs were inconsistent at first — took time to tune the prompts right.
- Deciding how minimal or complete the first version should be before submission. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Creating a unique “sassy sibling” AI voice that balances humor and help.
- Delivering a working app built quickly without code.
- Designing an intuitive UI that’s easy to use on any device. ## What we learned
- Writing prompts that give AI personality takes trial and error.
- Combining sass and helpfulness in AI responses is a cool challenge.
- Bolt.new is a surprisingly flexible and fun platform for rapid app building. ## What's next for WhatToText.ai
- Add multiple tone presets: flirty, formal, sarcastic, angry.
- User profiles and history to personalize suggestions.
- Launch as a mobile app and browser plugin.
- Multi-language support to reach a global audience.
