Inspiration

Coming to campus as out of state freshman, finding parties without already having friends made going out harder.

What it does

Users can publish/post parties or other events for all people to see

How we built it

we used react native in expo for the frontend and a node js backend

Challenges we ran into

being able to get the user's location and finding the distance between that and the event was tricky, we also had a number of issues with how the frontend and backend were communicating

Accomplishments that we're proud of

minimal bugs and there was an wasy process connecting the frontend and backend initially

What we learned

using Apis to calculate distances through a graph and how to make a software in a team.

What's next for WhatsTheMove

Adding an interactive map with points to visualize events near you. Adding Profiles for users to track event posters and for security/privacy reasons. We also wanted to add a live rating system to track how popular an event may be
