Inspiration

We've all been there, staring into the fridge at random ingredients, wondering "what can I even make with this?" Food waste is a massive problem, with households throwing away nearly 30% of groceries. We wanted to create a solution that's smart, sustainable, and saves both time and money. WhatsInMyFridge was born from the simple idea: what if AI could be your personal chef, turning whatever you have into delicious meals?

What it does

WhatsInMyFridge is an AI-powered recipe generator that transforms your leftover ingredients into personalized, delicious recipes. Simply enter what's in your fridge, select any dietary preferences (vegan, gluten-free, keto, etc.), and our AI instantly generates custom recipes complete with instructions and nutritional information. No more food waste, no more "what's for dinner?" stress, just smart cooking with what you already have.

Challenges we ran into

Syncing ElevenLabs voice assistants with our actual code. We were trying to film clips for the social media challenge, it was pretty hard to get original ideas

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our final product, it is a working, problem-solving, real life problem that many people face in their lives.

What we learned

Perhaps the most important thing we learned is that the best solutions often come from personal pain points. By building something we'd actually use ourselves, we stayed motivated and created a product that genuinely addresses an everyday struggle.

What's next for WhatsInMyFridge

Mobile app development: Creating native iOS and Android apps for on-the-go recipe generation while grocery shopping
Recipe saving & meal planning: Adding user accounts to save favorite recipes and plan weekly meals based on available ingredients
Community features: Allowing users to share their generated recipes, rate combinations, and build a community cookbook of AI-created meals
