Inspiration
I was stuck choosing a domain for this hackathon to win the domain name challenge …so I built an AI that does it for me. Whatdomainnamemakesmewinhackaton.ai is an AI-powered GenAI that the jury might even use themself to find the most creative domain in the whole hackaton - curious? Try it yourself! Sometimes the most obvious answer is the most brilliant one. The domain that asks the question IS the answer. - sorry for the bad video, I had to run onto the train and finished this writing 20 minutes before submit on my ride.
What it does
It acts like a hyper-intelligent AI trained on thousands of naming challenges, complete with loading animations, reasoning paths, and a polished UI. As a matter of having this genius AI built, I used the domain myself, and so in the end the ai powered analysis results in its own domain name, and the only possible winner of such a domain name challenge, whatdomainnamemakesmewinhackaton.ai. Users laugh, but it technically does exactly what it promises.
How we built it
The project was built with React, Supabase, and Stripe. It includes dynamic ranking logic, real-time donor logos, and an animated “thinking” engine. Supabase handles Edge Functions, live donation updates, and data storage. Stripe enables seamless donation flows. This was my first ever coding project - and I sprinted to the train station minutes after submitting. Took me about 1.5 days.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge: balancing credibility and irony. The site had to look serious enough to sell the joke. Technically, Stripe integration and Supabase Edge Functions pushed me the most - but the real art was in making the AI feel hilariously confident while still being perfectly deadpan. Bolt handled everything creat, super efficient. P.s. I never coded before.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
- The domain name itself is the project.
- First-time build with full Stripe integration.
- The meta-joke lands because everything else feels real.
- Visitors laugh, share it, and actually donate.
- High Viral Potential
What we learned
A joke hits harder when it’s treated seriously. Simplicity often hides surprising complexity. Building from zero is possible - even under pressure - when the idea, or let’s say the name, is strong enough.
What’s next for Whatdomainnamemakesmewinhackaton.ai
As predicted by itself, it will win the Domain Challenge by Netlify - it itself is the project, the engine, the tool to find the winner and the winner.
