Inspiration

While brainstorming everyday challenges that we face together, we realized that we both waste hours trying to figure out something to watch. This is why we decided to create What2Watch.

What it does

What2Watch gives you a personalized Netflix recommendation based on a few questions about your preference for genre and other personality traits.

How we built it

We used HTML to create the user interface, and CSS for styling. To provide recommendations and keep track of user answers, we used JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time coding in HTML and JavaScript, and we had no familiarity with CSS either. We ran into challenges with coordinating our HTML output and how JavaScript was running in the background, but we eventually grasped the basics of the two languages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Having only been programming since the beginning of the semester, we are very proud of what we've created! This project required a lot of self-teaching in unfamiliar languages, and we have developed a basic grasp on these languages.

What we learned

We have learned the basics of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

What's next for What2Watch Recommendation Generator

Our next step, with more coding experience, would be to develop a way to continuously sync our recommendations with the most recent additions to streaming services. We would also like to give even more tailored recommendations by gathering more user data.
