Inspiration
One of the best ways to strengthen social bonds is to cook and share a meal together with friends. However, this can be a difficult process, and it can be difficult to create food that includes everyone, accommodating for dietary restrictions, intolerance, and even simple preferences (looking at you, picky eaters :) ).
What it does
Our app seeks to provide food recipes and suggestions that includes everyone. Users can join a 'group', adding their dietary restrictions, allergens and intolerance, and preferences. Our app will then provide recipe recommendations that satisfy everyone.
How we built it
We built a front-end client using Javascript React, providing the UI for users to provide their food preferences and view recommendations. We also created a backend using Node.js, Postgres, and Prisma to store the data for groups, allowing people to fill in their information at any time.
Challenges we ran into
For most of us, it was our first experience with React, so we encountered challenges using the language to create a front-end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting together as a team and learning from each other
What we learned
Different ways to approach the same problem, ie. getting React-Router-Dom to work
