Chopped at home!
What it does
Generates a weekly challenge consisting of a set of 5-6 ingredients. Users craft a creative dish using all ingredients and share their creations on our platform. If you're eager for more challenges, you can generate your own random and unique combination of ingredients.
How we built it
We used a React front-end and Firebase back-end. Images are hosted on Firebase Storage and other data including ingredients, recipe descriptions, and more are stored in Firebase's Realtime Database.
Challenges we ran into
Firebase has some tricky read/write functions that are asynchronous. Making sure things happen at the right time and our components update when the data is pulled is crucial.
