What's An LLM?

Inspiration

We were inspired by old school puppet shenanigans. A lot of classic puppet TV and edutainment involved slapstick and overly violent situations. On the Muppet Show I remember a monster singing “Take All of Me” as his body parts were removed… Puppet Body Horror? Wild.

The idea was to bring back that unsafe puppet mayhem but with today’s themes and today’s sense of what constitutes horror comedy.

What it does

Hopefully it surprises you non stop and maybe we all learn something along the way. Actually we hope that you think it’s an edutainment piece and realize that you are watching a puppet horror comedy.

How we built it

The assets and characters were first generated in Kling. Character turnaround videos were then generated. The characters were roto’d and clean-slated. Backgrounds were generated and extended using various tools like Photoshop and Nano-Banana.

We then made starter images with our assets and generated videos with Kling. A couple of the shots were made with Pixverse In some instances we generated the characters on green backgrounds and keyed them in using After Effects.

Effects, animation, and post processing were done in After Effects and Premiere Pro

Challenges we ran into

Not enough coffee at times More snacks would have been nice We actually started filming this with real puppets. We were either going to use our own puppets and comp them into AI environments or use their motion to guide replacement assets. We quickly found out that some of the AI motion tools aren’t as good as their promos would lead you to believe. We had to switch gears to fully AI puppet characters.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of how we set out to make this very niche looking… thing. Our thinking is that the best use of AI is when you don’t know it’s AI. Hopefully there are times while watching when your brain is trying to decide if these characters actually exist on a set somewhere.
