Inspiration
The idea came from the realization that in the digital world, everything is focused on data preservation: archives, clouds, and endless chats. However, sometimes people need the opposite the ability to let go. I wanted to create a safe space for words that are too heavy to carry within oneself but cannot be heard by others. It's a digital form of relief. This project reflects my personal experience of having thoughts I couldn’t express.
What it does
This site helps people release their unsaid things that they cannot get through. The user writes something that they have never dared to say to an important person. After clicking the "Release" button, the message is not sent or saved, but instead visually breaks down into particles, turning into "digital dust," giving the user a sense of completion.
How we built it
The project was implemented using Figma to create a deep, multi-layered visual aesthetic.Additional details, flowers, and the concept were created in Adobe Illustrator. I wanted to make this app atmospheric by using appropriate music in the demo video and "non-aggressive" colors.
Challenges we ran into
The most difficult part was finding the right visual balance. I wanted to convey the melancholy and seriousness of the topic, but not make the interface too depressing. My main goal was to make the website comfortable in my own perception.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I was able to turn the standard text input interface into an emotional ritual. The fact that the video makes the viewer pause and feel the emptiness of the screen after the words disappear is exactly the result I was aiming for. The code and design have truly become a unified tool for self-expression.
What we learned
I've learned to make things more creative. Creating a website is not just about making a working screen, but about showing how creativity and ideas can come together. I'm glad that I was able to bring my idea to fruition.
What's next for What I Never Said
This website may have many more improvements with the concept. Depending on what is written, what mood of the text, the music and design can change. Adding a settings button where a person can personalize the main screen.
