About what I could investigate, an API is a service that allows us to communicate with the programs or websites. For example, if I say "GitHub, how much repos there are with + 12000 stars", GitHub has to answer me. The process between is an API. I'll ask GitHub, and it'll return me something.
Another example could be the weather. I could ask "what time will do tomorrow?". The weather provider should answer me.
That's all what I could learn about APIs, I plan to try some APIs soon! Hope I can use them in some LHD projects. ^^
