Inspiration
We were inspired by the popular Buzzfeed quizzes to create a similar website with a twist; PopBuzz. Our group found inspiration in our mutual interest in international cultures to create a quiz which determines which country you would be.
What it does
Our quiz uses a specially formulated equation which determines your 'country' by adding up the points based on your answers to 10 multiple-choice questions. After your points are added up, you are directed to another web page which displays the countries along with a description about each one. From there, you may choose to proceed to another quiz about each country to test your knowledge on it.
How we built it
We built this project on glitch.com, using a combination of HTML and CSS languages.
Challenges we ran into
At times, we ran into challenges involving the format of our website, as well as difficulty with the coding itself. We worked with resilience to overcome these obstacles, using online resources and information.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
When we decided to enter hackathon, none of the team members knew how to code at all. We learnt how to code in css and html in only two days and while we could use templates to make our job easier, we decided to create two websites and six quizzes from scratch. We learnt from our mistakes and with hard work, we accomplished our goal. Our group is very proud of PopBuzz and all the effort and time which was put into it.
What we learned
We learned about the work that goes into creating a website, and we can only imagine the difficulty that bigger and more advanced websites take to have been created. Especially when considering the time periods in which each one was created, and how they may not have had the same resources as we did.
What's next for What Country are You?
Next, we will work to create more quizzes, as well as to improve the aesthetics of our web project.
