Inspiration
Geoff was a hard working yorkshire man who enlisted with the army to protect his country. On his mission in turkzakhastahn he was captured by insurgents and subject to information gathering techniques. His unit located his wherabouts and attempted a covert rescue operation. When they finally located him he had already succumbed to the methods of the insurgents. If he had a greater endurance he would have been able to last long enough to be rescued. I want to help people like Geoff protect themselves, and more importantly, their countries.
What it does
The WAYDSM is a highly configurable controlled endurance environment that uses advanced machine learning to push your body past its limits. The mask unit is able to induce stressful situations by controlling gas flow about the person. The flail simulates, at a tolerable level, the application of forces that may ocur during advanced information gathering activities.
How we built it
The solution is built on the BEEF stack incorporating a shit tonne of python. The hardware unit consists of step motors and a dc brushed motor to provide the actuation required.
Challenges we ran into
The initial plan was to have an external water unit that would pour water on to the subjects head . It was found that this was vastly ineffective in terms of improving endurance and so was scrapped to allow for bigger and better things. The final WAYDSM is the culmination of two days of blood, sweat and choking.
What we learned
Being a hydrohomie can be taken too far. Water is good but air is more important.
What's next for What are you doing step motor?
Clinical trials will be necessary to ascertain effectibity of the unit. It will be compared against other industry standard benchmarks such as the ISO 34.178 and ISO 65.124. We hope that every household globally will possess such a unit.
