Global Studies Games!

We decided to try and create unity within our Global Studies junior class as we have been having some quarrels recently. What better way to bring people together than a fun game!

Bringing together Global Studies and STEM!

What it does

You get to play a game modeled after the ECOSOC room at the UN in NYC! AND you get to play as a beloved member of the 2024 Global Studies class.

How we built it

We went through A LOT of trial and error on Game Maker Studios 2, but eventually got a playable game in the end!

Challenges we ran into

We do not have any prior coding experience, so trying to learn and implement information we found online about how to code was a challenge in itself. Initially, we made a fun project in Scratch, but decided to try a more complex program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The fact that we were even able to put together something that works! Without any prior knowledge on the topic, the was quite the task.

What we learned

We learned about perseverance and about coding! We had lots of fun!

What's next for Global Studies Games!

As we learn more about coding, maybe we will make other more complex Global Studies themed games in the future!

We currently have a finished game on scratch (it's a global studies themed whack-a-mole.) We then decided to expand our horizons and use a more sophisticated software to challenge our coding abilities, and are in the progress of making a single-player battle against the pets of global studies. it's coming out pretty epic so far, and we will see how it turns out as the night progresses.
