Inspiration
Earth Observation (EO) data from satellites like Sentinel and Landsat provides a wealth of information about soil properties and conditions, enabling precision agriculture and sustainable land management.
What it does
EO agriTool empowers farmers, land managers, and researchers with actionable insights into soil health, moisture, and composition, leading to informed decisions for optimized crop yields and resource conservation.
How we built it
We leverage satellite imagery and advanced data processing algorithms to analyze soil moisture, organic carbon, erosion, and texture. Interactive maps and visualizations present complex data in an accessible format.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating diverse EO datasets, ensuring data accuracy and reliability, and developing user-friendly interfaces for complex scientific data were key challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a prototype application that accurately displays and analyzes key soil properties, demonstrating the potential of EO data for practical agricultural applications.
What we learned
We learned the importance of intuitive UX design for scientific data, the power of cloud-based processing for handling large datasets, and the potential of EO data to revolutionize agricultural practices.
What's next for EO agriTool
EO agriTool will expand to include predictive analytics for crop yields, integrate with on-farm sensors, and provide personalized recommendations for farmers based on their specific soil conditions and needs.
