Inspiration

Every day, people struggle to find timely help—whether it's borrowing an item, getting emergency assistance, or finding volunteers for a social cause. Existing solutions like social media and forums are inefficient, unreliable, and not built for immediate assistance. We wanted to create a real-time, AI-powered help network that connects people seamlessly based on their needs.

What It Does

WEY is a community-driven help & assistance platform that allows users to:

  • Request help instantly (services, medical, missing items, volunteers, etc.).
  • AI-powered categorization ensures requests reach the right audience.
  • Local & Global visibility: Requests can be neighborhood-specific or worldwide.
  • Real-time volunteer matching for quick and relevant responses.
  • Gamified credit system: Earn credits by helping others & use them to post requests.
  • Fraud prevention using AI to detect fake help offers and spam.

How We Built It

  • Wireframing & Prototyping: Using Figma for rapid UI/UX testing and iteration.
  • User Testing & Feedback Loops: Conducting surveys and A/B testing to refine user flows.
  • Scalability & Modularity: Ensuring UI components are reusable and adaptable for future features.

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Balancing Simplicity & Functionality: Designing an interface that is both powerful yet easy to use.
  • Information Overload: Prioritizing help requests while avoiding clutter and decision fatigue.
  • Ensuring Accessibility: Implementing voice support, high-contrast themes, and large touch targets.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

What We Learned

  • Users prefer instant action buttons for volunteering rather than multi-step flows.
  • Visual hierarchy is crucial to avoid overwhelming users with too much information.
  • Personalization improves engagement, so tailoring feeds based on user preferences is essential.
