WEXSPACE Engineering Design, Workflow & Studio
The product vision: a complete engineering BUILD platform
Engineering work does not end at design, teaching, or simulation. Engineers, students, makers, research groups, and technical enterprises need one governed workspace that carries a project from its initial need to a validated, build-ready technical package, coordinating people, tools, decisions, revisions and evidence along the way. WEXSPACE is envisioned as that platform.
The problem
Engineering projects often fragment across requirements documents, calculation sheets, CAD/CAE tools, material schedules, manufacturing plans, approvals, quality checks and delivery files. As projects change, teams lose traceability between the original specification, design decisions, physical build planning and acceptance evidence. Students face a similar gap between coursework and real project delivery.
The solution
WEXSPACE organizes the complete engineering creation and build lifecycle in one evolving project workspace:
- Discover and specify: capture the user goal, target application, constraints, users, acceptance criteria, and missing inputs.
- Engineer and design: develop alternatives, trace assumptions and calculations, compare trade-offs, and connect approved engineering tools.
- Model, visualize and simulate: coordinate appropriate CAD/CAE/visualization processes, link results to the exact design revision, and distinguish demonstrated analysis from unverified AI suggestions.
- Plan the build: produce editable material/component schedules, interface definitions, BOMs, sourcing and fabrication/assembly work packages with explicit owner and approval status.
- Execute controlled workflows: assign tasks to people or authorized tools, require human approval for consequential actions, and record actual results and failures.
- Verify and deliver: manage inspections, tests, quality/nonconformance reviews, revision history, handover files and traceable acceptance evidence.
- Improve and reuse: preserve lessons learned, design history and reusable processes for the next project.
Interactive learning and engineering mentoring are important capabilities of the platform, but they are not its limit or its primary definition.
Who it helps
- Students and educators: turn an open-ended design brief into a professionally structured, reviewable engineering project.
- Design engineers and technical teams: coordinate early design through build planning, verification and formal technical delivery.
- Makers and engineering startups: reduce the gap between a prototype idea and a transparent implementation package.
- Industrial engineering departments: manage requirements, change control, approvals and technical evidence.
Domain flexibility
This is not restricted to one machine, industry, energy technology or competition example. A mechanical assembly, pneumatic-conveying system, automation device, thermal management rig, industrial fixture or another permitted engineering challenge can be selected later without changing the platform identity.
Any complex or safety-critical industry example must remain within the capabilities actually verified, with qualified professional review and all necessary regulations, permissions and physical test evidence. The platform must never claim a conceptual illustration is a certified or manufacturing-ready physical design.
Current competition prototype and truthful scope
This project page is a work-in-progress draft. A standalone, locally runnable prototype is being developed with configurable project briefs, deterministic review checks, phase/status tracking, user-entered component planning, approval-aware traceability and exportable build-workflow records. These are early product components, not evidence that full CAD, CAE, PLM, ERP, manufacturing or external device integration is already operational.
The intended demo will use a user-selectable engineering challenge to show the same general workflow progressing from requirements through traceable decisions to a coherent build plan and quality/handover checklist. The choice of demonstration project remains open. Every automated action and tool integration will be disclosed and demonstrated only after real verification.
Engineering integrity and human control
AI recommendations are not engineering sign-off. All consequential design claims require domain-qualified checking; manufacturing, installation, and operation remain subject to applicable standards, safety reviews, and authorized human decisions. The competition export uses synthetic inputs and must not disclose private company systems, credentials or protected WEXSPACE owner data.
What a successful demonstration must prove
The judges can choose or define a project, revise constraints, inspect reproducible calculations/requirements checks, compare a design decision, build a traceable set of components and tasks, approve a review gate, and export the resulting evidence. The finished submission must additionally document the required competition-track integration, tested source, actual demo video and product feedback; none of these is claimed complete merely because this draft is published.
Originality and existing work
WEXSPACE's pre-existing engineering process, governance and agent-workflow research provide the product background. The eventual submission will identify the substantial features created or updated during the competition period, and will maintain a standalone implementation with independently testable evidence.
