Inspiration The inspiration for us was recognizing that the current system of voting did not actually make any sense. It actively worked against individuals who were most marginalized in our society, by de facto disenfranchising them.

What it does It's a website that is an all-in-one stop, which streamlines the voter registration process for users, provides a consolidated database of election information pertaining to elections in all levels of the government, and finally serves to encourage civic engagement.

How we built it We used react to build the UI of the website along with HTML, Javascript, and CSS. We also used Google's Civil Tech API in order to integrate a location search function. We used various AI methodologies to extract appropriate data from the users to ensure that our algorithms were working efficiently. We also used Flask to build the backend.

Challenges we ran into We had difficulty merging our product together and finalizing a finished product. Time was a huge issue for us because we had many ideas and design details that we wanted to implement but we simply did not have the time or resources present to implement them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We came up with an idea that we were really passionate about that we truly believe, when implemented fully, will help address structural inequalities by helping to enfranchise marginalized communities.

What we learned we learned that developing an application with the deadline we were given, and our aspirations, was a bit too overambitious. We also learned to collaborate with individuals from different academic background.

What's next for WeVote We would like to work on our website in order to polish it and implement all of the features that we would like.
