✨ Inspo ✨
I was inspired by the hackathon challenge that discussed the "lack of access to adequate resources" that "creates barriers for young minds to fully explore and develop their creative potential in the realm of technology and innovation." I identified a pain point in our early education system in our community and noticed that there are barely any STEAM learning opportunities for the masses.
⚒ What does it do ⚒
WeSTREAM provides Grades 4 to 8s the ability to partake in courses/activities with partnered organizations. The platform then gives the ability for students interested in STEAM to better educate themselves and develop clearer aspirations as to what they want to do in their life.
👷♂️ How I built it 👷♀️
I used Figma for the whole project, Canva for logo design, and Pexels for stock images.
💪 Challenges I ran into 💪
I wanted to test myself working solo on a project. It was extremely difficult having no one to go back and forth with in terms of ideas, so that was challenging. Coming up with design ideas or simply ideas for the project was difficult as well.
🥇 Accomplishments that I'm proud of 🥇
I think this is a cool idea and this is just an extremely simple prototype that can be expanded upon. I'm glad I finished somewhat of it to get my idea across.
🚸 What I learned 🚸
I learned a lot about ideating and designing user interfaces. I'm still fairly a beginner in UX/UI design, so doing more of this will only make me better.
😲 What's next for WeSTEAM😲
Making the design more complex and finding ways to streamline students easily into the app. I also think potentially offering courses/activities for high schoolers through the partnered companies would be helpful too, and integrating into the school's curriculums as well.
