Inspiration

Retail investors get headlines and vague AI chat answers, but not structured, cited research they can compare—or proof that past AI calls were right. We built Wenap to deliver fast, honest research with public accountability.

What it does

  • Enter a ticker (stocks, ETFs, REITs, forex, crypto) → structured report in ~60s
  • Six-dimension radar, bull/base/bear scenarios, supply chain, risk & credibility

How we built it

  • UI: React + Vite
  • API: Node.js monolith, multi-step LLM orchestration (OpenRouter + optional Gemini for policy/regulation)
  • Deploy: Google Cloud VM, Docker Compose (app + Redis), SQLite on persistent disk, Cloudflare → Caddy
  • Data: Marketstack + Alpha Vantage fallback; JP/HK symbol handling
  • Ops: Admin cost logs, verify cron, health monitoring

Challenges we ran into

  • Stale market/news data → freshness warnings and source dating in reports
  • Multi-market tickers and reliable verify prices at prediction maturity
  • Balancing multi-model quality vs API cost (caching, tiered models)
  • Running real SaaS (auth, Stripe, compliance)—not a throwaway hackathon UI

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Production at https://wenap.app (not localhost-only)
  • End-to-end pipeline: analyze → store → verify → show on public /accuracy
  • Multi-asset support with EN/JP and other locales for global retail users

What we learned

  • Judges and users care as much about traceability (sources, dates, disclaimers) as flashy summaries
  • Docker + Redis + persistent SQLite is a practical solo-founder stack on a single GCE VM
  • Shipping weekly beats perfect architecture for hackathon Progress scoring

What's next for Wenap

  • Richer screener filters, more languages, and deeper institutional-style data for Pro+ users
