Inspiration

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to overlook our daily health habits. We often find ourselves neglecting basic needs like staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, or maintaining a balanced diet, and with so much information out there, it can be overwhelming to know where to start when it comes to improving your health. But neglecting essential daily needs can have consequences. Office workers, university students, busy parents, and anyone navigating a demanding lifestyle are all vulnerable to the toll that neglecting health can take. Wouldn’t it be simpler if there were one reliable place to keep track of all these needs—a single platform that made it easy to care for yourself, no matter how packed your schedule?

What it does

We at MKRG would like to introduce you to our website, WellSpring. WellSpring has four main pages: Home, Dashboard, Resources and Form. The Home page provides information on the importance of various health attributes. The Dashboard allows you to access your long-term stats, giving you a day-by-day analysis of your progress over the month. The Resources page gives you access to thousands of health-related articles and resources, just a search away. Finally, the Form page is where you input your daily health stats.

How we built it

Some of the tools we used to develop WellSpring include JavaScript, ReactJS, CSS, and Figma.

Challenges we ran into

WellSpring required some complex JavaScript implementation, which we weren't very familiar with. We also had to learn how to use APIs on the spot.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of everything we were able to develop with such little time and little background knowledge in web development. We were also impressed with our designs and animations, as well as the smooth implementation of News API for our Resources page.

What we learned

In building WellSpring, we pushed our front- and back-end abilities to their limits, and learned a great deal of programming from our mentors.

What's next for WellSpring

We look forward to implementing features such as:

  • a leaderboard (where users gain points with every fulfilled streak) and a chat forum to create positive wellness-oriented social circles
  • daily challenges (such as "Hydration Week" or "Sleep Better Challenge"), reminders, and personal goals to increase self-motivation
  • mental health-oriented features such as meditation
  • connectivity with wearable technology to automatically update data
