Inspiration

The inspiration for WellCloud was borne out of two significant personal experiences. Firstly, dealing with the tedious process of accessing medical records for both ourselves and our loved ones, and secondly, living through the Porter Ranch Gas Leak natural disaster. These experiences shaped a vision to alleviate at least one burden for those navigating the healthcare system while facing illness.

What it does

WellCloud is a cloud-based platform designed to gather all your health records in one location, streamlining their management and simplifying sharing with your healthcare providers.

However, we aimed to go beyond mere simplification of record management. Using AI, we are developing the platform to use health records to detect disease clusters, such as cancer or autism, and identify potential correlations with environmental events or Superfund sites.

This aspiration extends beyond personal healthcare and reaches into the realms of medical science, epidemiology, and environmental health. Our goal is to provide a powerful tool that can inform public health research, shape policy-making, and proactively identify potential environmental health risks, leading to enhanced preventive measures. This reflects our firm belief in the responsible harnessing of AI for the greater societal benefit.

How we built it

We built WellCloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS) secure storage of PDFs and PostgreSQL to manage health record data, we chose PostgreSQL.

For the machine learning aspect of our platform, we turned to MindsDB. This AI layer allows us to implement machine learning models directly into our PostgreSQL database, enabling real-time analysis and predictive analytics. Through these combined technologies, we created an integrated, efficient, and secure platform for managing health records.

We take immense pride in developing a solution that genuinely assists both patients and healthcare providers. We hope our solution will dismantle barriers to health record access and enhance the healthcare delivery process. Our successful integration of machine learning, providing advanced analytics and insights, showcases our commitment to innovation in healthcare.

What's next for WellCloud

Looking ahead, we aim to refine and broaden the capabilities of our machine learning algorithms. This will allow us to offer even more personalized insights to our users and create enhanced heat maps for public health use. Additionally, we plan to bolster our follow-up support, ensuring our users' health records remain comprehensive, up-to-date, and verified at all times.
