Inspiration
We wanted to make global wellbeing data understandable and interactive for everyone. Instead of static reports, we imagined an AI-powered tool that answers questions about health, education, and life quality across nations — visually and instantly.
What it does
WellbeingLens analyzes the OECD Wellbeing dataset to uncover insights by country, gender, age, and education. Users can ask natural questions and get dynamic Plotly charts that highlight trends, comparisons, and correlations across wellbeing domains.
How we built it
We used Plotly Studio to import and explore the OECD dataset. With its AI analytics, we built interactive visual dashboards showing wellbeing trends over time and across demographics. We refined visualizations using filters and natural language prompts to make insights more intuitive.
Challenges we ran into
Structuring multiple wellbeing measures (domains) for comparison across years. Ensuring charts remained meaningful when filtered by demographics. Managing dataset interpretation for different unit measures. Learning how to best use Plotly Studio’s AI querying features efficiently.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built an AI-driven wellbeing explorer that transforms raw data into understandable stories. Enabled natural language data discovery for non-technical users. Created clean, interactive dashboards that highlight global trends in wellbeing.
What we learned
We learned how to turn complex data into actionable insights using Plotly Studio’s AI capabilities. We also gained a deeper understanding of how demographics and education influence wellbeing across countries.
What's next for WellbeingLens: AI-Powered Global Insights
We plan to expand with predictive analytics for future wellbeing trends, integrate real-time data updates, and add a storytelling assistant that generates narrative summaries for each country or domain.
