Inspiration
We decided to create WellNest after noticing that both our own mental health and that of many of our peers had been negatively affected by heavy workloads, deadlines, and academic stress. These pressures often caused people to neglect basic healthy habits such as drinking enough water, exercising regularly, and taking time to reflect on their well-being. We wanted to build a simple platform that encourages users to build healthier routines while keeping track of their daily wellness.
What it does
WellNest is a wellness tracker that helps users monitor healthy daily habits. It allows users to keep track of activities such as water intake and exercise, while also providing a Notes section where they can journal their thoughts or record how they are feeling. The goal is to encourage consistency in healthy habits, reduce stress over time, and promote better overall well-being
How we built it
We designed and developed WellNest using multiple files to separate the different parts of the project, making it easier to organize, maintain, and expand. We focused on creating a clean and user-friendly interface while implementing the core tracking features and note-taking functionality that make up the application's wellness experience
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was organizing the project structure and ensuring that the different components worked together smoothly. We also spent time refining the interface so that it remained simple and intuitive while still providing useful functionality for users
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we successfully built a functional wellness tracker that addresses a real problem affecting many students and professionals. We also created an interface that is easy to use and encourages users to develop healthier daily habits rather than overwhelming them with unnecessary complexity
What we learned
Throughout this project, we learned how important it is to plan a project's structure before development begins. We also gained experience organizing code across multiple files, improving user interface design, and building an application with a focus on solving a real-world problem
What's next for WellNest
In the future, we'd like to expand WellNest with personalized wellness insights, habit streaks, reminders for hydration and exercise, mood tracking, and visual progress analytics. We also hope to incorporate AI-powered recommendations that provide users with personalized suggestions to help improve their mental and physical well-being over time
