Inspiration

As a board member of Aftab for two years, this club has become a home to me, fostering a community where we can express ourselves creatively and safely. To pay homage to Aftab, I created this website to introduce the club, showcase past issues, and link to its social media for ongoing connection.

What it does

This website serves as a promotional platform for Aftab, providing information about the club, access to past issues, and links to social media. It allows users to explore Aftab's history, connect with its community through social media, and meet the board members.

How I built it

I started by creating mockups and wireframes to design the website. Using these, I chose a color palette and fonts. I built the site one page at a time—home, about, board, and issues—using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges

One significant challenge was managing the size of PDF files for the issues page. Hosting these large files in repositories was impractical, so I uploaded them to Google Drive and linked them.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  • Successfully created an engaging and informative website that promotes Aftab and its mission.
  • Developed a user-friendly interface that allows easy access to past issues and board member information.
  • Implemented a solution to manage large PDF files by linking to Google Drive, ensuring accessibility without overloading the repository.

What I learned

I deepened my understanding of web development, particularly how HTML, CSS, and JS interact to create an engaging user experience. I also gained insights into user expectations and how to make websites user-friendly.

What's next for Welcome to the Aftab-Verse

Looking ahead, I plan to add interactive features such as a blog or forum for members to share and discuss ideas, and incorporate a calendar for upcoming events and workshops. Another goal is to improve mobile responsiveness for a seamless experience on all devices. Additionally, I plan to include testimonials to highlight the impact of Aftab on their creative journeys and community engagement.
