Inspiration - The concept:

This video was heavily inspired by Bethesda games, particularly the Bioshock and Fallout series. I often talk about the benefits of AI, but with this project I decided to explore the drawbacks, from the AI’s perspective rather than a human. There’s no doubt in my mind that tools like these can be dangerous, but are the tools themselves the problem, or the people who have access to them?

What it does - The experiment was to explore new avenues for creating with AI by focusing on open-source tools such as Flux Dev and Fooocus. Using both, I created all the scenes you see here, except one, which was generated by ChatGPT. The aim of the project was to find the most cost effective ways of creating a a really good output.

How we built it -

Kling AI - Video generation & SFX WAN 2.2 - Video generation ChatGPT - Scripting, Prompting and some image generation Flux Dev & Fooocus - Image generation and upscaling TensorPix - Upscaling ElevenLabs - Narration Suno - Music

Challenges we ran into - A lot of the images created by open source software had some very exaggerated body features, or would turn a simple prompt into something too explicit. In certain cases the image itself had to be censored by myself in Photoshop even if it wasn't that explicit just to generate a video. The biggest challenge for me was overcoming certain censorship guidelines which were a bit over the top to say the least. The other issue was creating consistent characters with open source software only, as my aim was to focus mainly on open source for image generation. I actually found Using FLUX DEV then adding that image into Fooocus was a big help as it made the image look more real. Luckily for this idea I didn't need a consistent character, otherwise this project would be a lot more challenging without commercial tools.

Accomplishments that we're proud of - The overall video turned out quite nice in my opinion, and overall my idea turned out almost exactly as I had hoped for (minus a few shots that I thought would of been nice to have but couldn't get video generators to generate). I am proud to have made a video that is in such good quality without the typical commercial workflows most follow. Most subscriptions break the bank noways so it was really nice to practise my craft, and create without spending a ton on subscriptions, especially on something that does not have a return on investment for the time being.

What we learned - That you do not need to spend a lot of money on a lot of subscriptions to create a nice video. It really is all about your creativity, your ideas, and it really can be limitless if you understand the technology and are willing to put the time in.

What's next for Welcome to Ed3n - This series will end, I only had this video in plan. But for me, many more AI videos, each more creative than the last. I hope :)
