Inspiration

We liked the idea of welcoming a family member home, but we added a fun twist to it by making it about a college student welcoming home their parents after a fun party. The underlying inspiration was seeing a family member again after a while.

What it does

The game is in top down perspective and takes the player through the different rooms of a house in order to clean the house.

How we built it

We combined our shared knowledge of Unity (and a lot of research) to bring the game to fruition.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into some issues with implementing the GUI elements of our game, as well as fully creating and implementing our collider system. There were also some issues with creating the messes the player is meant to clean.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some of our sound effects are fully implemented (though we'll need to put in some work for the rest of them). We also were proud of implementing the many visual aspects of our game, as well.

What we learned

We learned how to use unity collab to work on the project synchronously and asynchronously, which was really helpful, how to truly implement our logic skills into our code to make it functional, how to use the debugger to solve problems, and overall got to practice our skills in unity.

What's next for Welcome Home

We plan to continue to work on the game to make it fully functional. We also plan to refine our assets in order to ensure the game is as visually appealing as it will be enjoyable to play.
