Inspiration
Waking up is a problem for a lot of people, and the cost is real.
- Late to work, and the boss notices.
- Late to school, again.
- Late to a flight, and the ticket is gone.
Most of us have hit snooze "just one more time" and woken up an hour late. A normal alarm is easy to silence half asleep, so it fails exactly when it matters.
I wanted an alarm that does not let you go back to sleep. Weky makes you prove you are awake: solve a problem, shake your phone, or get moving. The alarm only stops when the mission is done. Then it turns the win into a streak and a badge, so waking up on time becomes a habit you can see.
Weky is also my first iOS app. I have been online for more than ten years, and with today's AI tools I finally built the app I wanted to use myself.
What Weky does
Weky (weky.app) is a smart alarm clock for heavy sleepers. It will not stop until you prove you are awake.
- Complete a mission to silence the alarm: push-ups, squats, math, a sky photo, and more.
- Build a streak and earn badges for every morning you win.
- Track your sleep and see how your wake-up time improves.
- Track and grow small habits.
Challenges
- Making missions hard to cheat. An alarm is useless if you can trick it, so each mission checks real movement, not just a tap.
- App Store review. I had to fix several rejections around pricing before the app was ready.
- Marketing. This is the biggest one. Building was the easy part compared with making people find the app.
What I learned
Every day I hit a new error and had to ask what a function really does and why the app behaves wrongly. That daily loop taught me more than any course.
I also learned that shipping is only half the work. The other half is telling people your app exists.
Why Shipaton
The RevenueCat Shipaton is a great chance for me to meet other indie builders and solo founders who think the way I do, and to share ideas in a language we all understand.
My hope is to discover new things, learn from this community, and let more people try Weky. If you are a heavy sleeper, I would love to hear how it works for you. You can follow the journey on Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads.
