Inspiration
I struggled with weight loss throughout my wrestling career. I tried various methods, but they were often too tedious and felt like a strict, military-style regimen that made me feel frustrated and led to binge eating. This app simplifies the process by focusing on long-term sustainability, making healthy eating easy and encouraging you to eat clean 80% of the time.
What it does
This app tracks your calories, weight progress, and includes a habit chart to monitor how often you stay in a calorie deficit or eat clean for more than 80% of your calories. Logging meals and workouts is incredibly simple—just take a photo, upload a photo, or type in your meal, and we’ll handle the rest.
How we built it
I built this app using SwiftData, integrated with OpenAI through streamlined network calls, and leveraged Apple’s Charts to keep it simple and effective.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints held me back, but they gave me a clear vision of what’s next for the app! I’m really excited about this one.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. I started programming just last year, completely self-taught. Earlier this year, I launched my first product, which took nearly the entire year to complete. This app has shown me how far I’ve come—being able to create and ship a beautiful product in such a short time.
What we learned
I learned a lot about APIs and using URL sessions, which was a lot of fun. I had never used Apple Charts before, but a tutorial I bought helped me turn them into something special. They feel truly top-tier, especially after adding haptic feedback.
What's next for Weightless
I plan to add CloudKit integration, HealthKit integration, widgets, and Apple Watch support.
