Inspiration

We wanted to work with IBM's bluemix for this project and decided that an IoT way to check the quantity left of stuff in your house would be a useful and fun project.

What it does

Using a pressure sensor, users can check on the percent left of whatever the household item is by comparing it to the original weight.

How I built it

It is built using IBM's node-RED with a node.js script sending data. An android alternative to sending data was in the works but was not completed in time

Challenges I ran into

We ran into challenges with trying to find time to do everything. The three of us all had homework to do so we really had a team of one and a half due to work. We also ran into problems trying to work around the simplicity of node-RED. Often times trying to get node-RED to do something more complicated caused many errors. We also couldn't figure out how to incorperate watson in our final project. We initially thought of using the text to speech and speech to text commands but, due to homework, were unable to work more on this.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We're proud that we got this far in the project. None of us have ever used any IBM bluemix stuff before this and we all have very basic knowledge of javascript and node.js. Android development is also not really our strong suit so taking all this on gave us the opportunity to learn a lot.

What I learned

We learned a lot about node-RED and IBM's bluemix capabilities.

What's next for Weight for It

To get the android simulator working and improving the back-end to have more capabilities.
