Inspiration
Our inspiration for WeekWise was to create a user friendly weekly planner that simplifies time management and empowers users to efficiently organize their busy lives. While everything around us is high tech and AI-powered, it’s refreshing to be able to bring back the retro theme of 8-bit pixel graphics and a simple task organizer, nothing fancy.
What it does
WeekWise streamlines your week by offering an intuitive platform to plan and organize for tasks, events, appointments, etc. ensuring you stay on top of your commitments with ease.
How we built it
We structured the code for WeekWise in Python by adopting a modular approach. We organized the functionality into distinct modules for the user interface and data management, ensuring clean and maintainable code. This allowed for us to enhance the application’s features and 8-bit retro aesthetic while keeping the code organized.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges in optimizing the user interface for responsiveness, some of our buttons were not functioning properly. However, with our two person team, we managed to put our problem solving abilities to good use and conquered these obstacles!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We take pride in the retro themed design and refreshing simplicity of our application. It provides users with a familiar and straightforward interface, bridging the gap between the past and present in the digital world.
What we learned
This project taught us the importance of teamwork, effective project management, and rapid development under a tight deadline. Additionally, it emphasized the significance of user-centric design, where we aimed to create a simple and user friendly solution in a world often dominated by complex technologies. Overall, this project expanded our coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration capabilities.
What's next for WeekWise
We are excited to officially launch our website and shortly after, release our mobile application. We will continue to refine and expand the application, adding more customization options, such as iOS widgets, and possibly developing smartwatch accessible versions. We’ll also actively gather user feedback to tailor our future updates to fit the needs of our growing user base.
