Inspiration

Human body is a complex, highly organized structure made up of unique cells that work together to accomplish the specific functions necessary for sustaining life. This complex body structure is vulnerable and susceptible to various internal system failures, infections and disease. Various genetic disorder in body, life habits, environmental changes have been the major reasons behind it. An unprecedented shift in human population is one reason why more diseases originate every now and then. In medicine/research field to understand the new disease and their symptoms, its effect on human anatomy and to find a cure for it requires a thorough research and trials of the cure on human being to understand the positive and negative effect of it. Through our current approach we are tiring to bring together the inhabitants of symptoms and disease at one platform to get in touch with clinical trials and research conducting institutions and create awareness about it. Accurate treatment and precautions needed to cure any disease requires a thorough analysis and study of the disease and symptom. To undergo this medical transition of study ,treatment and drug analysis requires a cooperation amongst various stakeholders —including research sponsors (industry, academia, government, non-profit organizations), patients, , physicians, and regulators—is necessary in conducting a clinical trial today. WeDoForU provides a PEGA platform to bring these stakeholders under a single platform so that interaction amongst them can be easily established. What it does? The idea behind WeDoForU is to provide a unanimous platform for stakeholders who can check through the platform various clinical trials being carried out and be a volunteer for them .Also for any new disease/infection can be studied through various samples that volunteers would readily give by enrolling to the platform.

What it does

WeDoForU is an application built with the intent to provide a one stop platform for stakeholders willing to carry out a clinical trial with registered volunteers who accept to take participate in trails and also be the volunteer to provide sample for genetic study of a disease As a prototype application, the stakeholders can aspire to receive trail benefits, conduct trails, and do a clinical research from the sample collection as primary users and case life cycle is designed in relevance to them.

How we built it

Diseases are spread across the world, some are on the limelight but the others might be new and deadly. When we think about the people who are affected, they are helpless. We need complete analysis about each unique condition, so research and trials are the only options left to find out a proper treatment. With this in our mind, we have brought in two actors in our prototype; Patients and Research Institute (Pharma institutes) who interact with each other in the lifecycle.

Patient Case Lifecycle :

Patient who are willing to donate samples to the research institutes for Sample Collection or want to participate in Clinical Trials will create a case in our application either directly or on behalf of their family dependents.
Patient will enter their basic personal details, past and prevailing medical details and their consent to the medical examination and he will be notified post that.
In the next stage, we will assess the criticality of the disease and the symptoms that the volunteer is facing based on the current medication details. We will generate a severity score and tag those under three clusters as ‘mild’, ‘severe’ and ‘critical’.
Based on the severity level we match the research institute’s request for same criticality level and display those details. We make sure that critical medical situations are taken for research first than the others.
- Patient can view the researcher’s details and search them to know more and register with them.
- Patient basic details are stored in the database when the matching research institutions are not available for the volunteer.

Research Institute Case Lifecycle :

Labs, research institutes or medical universities looking for Patients to research for a particular disease or a symptoms will register in our application with their authorized identity, medical details, samples which they might collect and symptoms which they are looking for.
They will give their legal consent with terms and conditions listed.
We will assess the criticality of the disease and symptoms based on a separate score analysis and match them with the patients who are available for their research.
Based on the patient’s details, Institute can choose to consider them for the trial.

Clinical Trial Case Lifecycle:

Research Institutes which are in search of Patients to conduct clinical trials on their new line of treatment for a medical condition will create this case.
Pharma institutes will enter their requests with specific health condition, location, patient age group and other sponsor’s contact details.
With the above details we will search for the patients who gave their interest for clinical trials and display it to the researchers.

Challenges we ran into

From the design part, we had to research on the whole process from creation to resolution, finding out the actors and the details to be collected from each.
Developers had challenges to match the exact patients with their critical medical condition to the researchers and vice versa.
Assessment of the Clinical Trails, Sample collections and the Patients in terms of Severity (mild, severe & critical) was a challenging task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This application is majorly open for research labs and organizations who are undertaking an examination of a critical disease or a rare disease.
Patients who are confused about their life or death situation with no treatments or cure available will be having some reason of hope that a research will at least benefit the future if not him directly.
Monitory donation to fund the researches by interested parties.

Our application is just a prototype to bring out the idea. We can enhance with better features like even
- crowd funding purposes,
- Bringing in partnerships with research institutes across the globe.
Get in touch with professors and doctors who are taking their PhD. and find out more from them to design this application better and beneficial.
We can use AI and text analytics to exact maps the patients and Pharma Institutes. It will helps in diagnostic of the critical and rare diseases with an effective studies and medication for the future.
