Why I created WeCookin'
WeCookin' was an idea that I had when I just moved to Finland for university. For the first time in my life, I had to manage bills, rents, and groceries; trying to balance out everything so that I am not going to overspend my budget for the month. Groceries are the easiest to manage because you can decide what to eat, what to buy, or what not to buy depending on your mood. Therefore, WeCookin' was created to help students or people who have limited budget to decide what should they make for the day.
What it does
WeCookin' has 2 main features: WeCookin' and WeHuntin'. WeCookin': gives user recipes and suggest what ingredients are needed. WeCookin' also let users to see how long should each recipe takes, is the recipe comfort food or one pot, and guide users how to make them. WeHuntin': Who doesn't love discounts? WeHuntin' will scan markets that located in the users' area and list which items are on sale. This feature is not yet implemented but will be available on the next update.
Not to mention Sous - AI Sous-Chef that will be assisting user on custom recipes and giving out cooking guides.
How we built it
The application is built with React and the AI is built with Gemini 3.5 lites.
Challenges we ran into
The challenge that I faced during the development is the AI SetUp with the Front-end. I haven't set up an AI agent to an application before so this took me quite a time to get it figured out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created Sous - my first AI Agent in a product. The main goal of WeCookin' is completed: Recipes, Sous, shopping lists, etc.
What we learned
Work with the Back-ends and how to set up an AI agent API.
What's next for WeCookin'
WeHuntin' feature will be implemented on the next update. More recipes will be on WeCookin'. Fix some UI errors.
