Inspiration

People such as children and elderly may have difficulties making phone call or remembering important hotline. Some of them also does not understand how to use a smartphone. These group of people are the most vulnerable and highest priority I considered when developing this project. I want to help making their task more easier during emergency so I decided to develop an app.

What it does

The mobile app allows user to call important hotlines easily and browse reliable website and Ukraine government official website to prevent misinformation. The app also help to raise some awareness about blood donation in Ukraine.

How we built it

I build it using React-Native, and I researched on different websites that are reliable to provide in the app. I use the Visual Studio Code software to coding it, and uses the Android Studio software to test the mobile app in the Android Studio emulator to ensure the app is working.

Challenges we ran into

I ran into challenges such as translation of English words into Ukrainian words. I am using Google Translate to translate the words and I afraid there may be incorrect translation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I feel proud of being able to find some useful website and provide in the app that may be helpful to readers who wants to learn about news information.

What we learned

I discovered that hospital in Ukraine needs more blood donation to help the people. I also find that, the the blood donation in Ukraine decrease during Covid-19 pandemic, the war started in Ukraine lead to increased demand.

What's next for WeConnect

If the WeConnect app is consider helpful, I will publish the app so the Ukrainians can use it. After publishing it, I will collect feedback to continue improve it.
