Inspiration
Philadelphia has many health problems, and we noticed that mental health issues here make up a large percentage of Pennsylvania’s total cases. We wanted to help people in the city by providing a platform that offers mental health support easily and affordably. This is why we created weCare, to fill that gap.
What it does
weCare is an online mental health support platform where users can j use emotional assessment tools, and get personalized advice for their mental wellness.
How we built it
We used Vite and Vue.js to build the front end because we wanted the platform to be fast and easy to use. We also used Firebase for deployment to ensure it could handle many users and was reliable. The design focuses on being modern and simple so everyone can use it without trouble.
Challenges we ran into
We had some struggles with the coding part. For example, making the front-end and back-end work together smoothly was hard. Sometimes the data did not flow correctly, especially when working with asynchronous functions. We also found it challenging to manage user authentication securely and fix state management issues. It took time and patience to figure everything out, but we learned a lot from it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the coding improvements we made during the project. Successfully integrating the front end with the back end was a big accomplishment. We also managed to solve several bugs that occurred with state management and data handling, which helped the platform run smoothly. Additionally, securing user authentication was something we worked hard on, and we are proud that we achieved a solution that protects user data.
What we learned
We learned so much during this project, especially about how to build both the front end and back end. We improved our coding skills, and we also learned how to design and build a website from scratch.
What's next for weCare
In the future, we plan to add features like sending a thank-you email after users register. Also, if users frequently post about feeling down in their mood blog, we want to detect it and send a check-in email. We also plan to add an AI chatbot to make the support even more personalized and interactive.
