Inspiration
We aimed to revolutionize mobile gaming by developing a project where multiple clients could connect to our server and experience augmentations while battling in a shared space using only their browser
What it does
Our project is a web application that allows users to create a Ready Player Me Avatar or sign-in and load their Ready Player Me Avatar to a 3D modelviewer/game lobby page. Our plan was to add a "View in AR" button that launched a shared networked A-Frame space that allows multiple RPM characters to load into a shared game space
How we built it
We built the web portal for users to load into our app using ASP.NET and we are using Glitch to host and run the experience
Challenges we ran into
When building the integration for Ready Player Me the documentation was outdated and the API URL had updated completely. Next we found out that we weren't going to be able to design the onboarding experience exactly how we wanted, due to technical limitations. The Ready Player Me embedded experience required a custom .readyplayer.me domain in order to fully make use of the API and you had to apply for their developer program in order to gain access
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One of the accomplishments we were most proud of was integrating the Ready Player Me onboarding system into our app. We were also able to follow the A-frame documentation and launch a shared networked A-Frame space and connect all of our devices A-Frame space (accepts up to 4 client connections)=> https://immerse-gt-2023-networkedaframe.glitch.me/

What's next for WebXR AR Avatar RPG
Our project introduces the idea of a revolutionary multiplayer, turn-based game that brings battles to life by incorporating 3D avatars in an augmented reality (AR) environment. If this idea were to be fully developed then players would be able to transform any surface or area into a thrilling battlefield, as they engage with friends in immersive tactical skirmishes. With highly customizable characters, participants strategize and maneuver through diverse terrains, leveraging the real-world setting to enhance their gameplay experience.
