Inspiration

I personally have websites, blogs, social media such as FaceBook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, Threads, podcast and similarly my startup has website, blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube. But I can't search across these from my own websites. There are no existing solutions. I thought something for myself. Then I though other SME's might need something similar. I was looking for some startups related infor on some government websites, there are sign post links, but not easily searchable. Now, I though what if inter-related websites of governments are searchable? i.e for example police department, health department etc... Then I came up with concept of WebVeta. Every website needs search for helping people find specifically what they are looking for.

What it does

Add your own websites, blogs etc... verify, copy and paste few lines of HTML, WebVeta does the rest.

How I built it

It's been a long, painful journey and as of now 13 months of effort. The pains are due to external anti-social elements. But the effort was very nice and could have been even nicer. I learnt lot of things, planning, developing product end-to-end. From technology stand point very normal, however, I embraced some scalability related architecture.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges I ran into are regarding Cyber-Security. Standard VPN configurations of OpenVPN and WireGuard are hackable by state-sponsored hackers / spies. I customized and built my own custom VPN based on OpenVPN i.e one time server cert (8192 bit), one time use client cert, one time use password, one connection, once a connection establishes no one connect, once connection drops cant connect using same set of client cert and passwords.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

launched a mvp in about 12 months.

adding some simple AI based features, due in prod by 30/04/2024.

What I learned

There are plenty of nay-sayers, hate groups filled with jealousy, people even team up and gang up to steal your hardwork etc.. Do what needs to be done.

What's next for WebVeta

Several new features are being planned: Accurate neural search, multi-modal, RAG.

Implemented cached RAG responses can be seen by general public not just internal IP's. In the submitted demo, the RAG responses were available from internal IPs. Instead of rate limiting, I am using cached responses, but still preview feature not GA!
