Inspiration
Right now we must all stay home to protect us and our loved ones. Managing this situation is difficult for everyone: adults, elderly, and children. In newspapers, on television and social networks, children's experiences seem to be forgotten. This is what inspired our team: it is important to think about everyone involved. Children absorb the anxieties and fears of parents, who, in turn, worry about their child, thus activating a vicious circle that is difficult to interrupt without the proper tools.
What it does
"How To Stay Home With Your Child" is a website in which there are several sections based on the age of the child, from early childhood to adolescence.
In each section, there will be further voices in which experts (clinical and developmental psychologists) will insert guidelines to help parents understand children's emotions and difficulties, with guidelines, psychoeducation, and practical advice. Furthermore, there will be specific items and support concerning some possible disorders and diagnosis of the child (e.g. developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, addictions, etc.). An important aspect to consider is the accompaniment of children who have lost their grandparents or other loved ones. In most cases, loss due to COVID-19 is a traumatic event, which occurred remotely, unexpectedly, and without the child having the opportunity to say goodbye to his grandparent.
Based on the needs and difficulties, the psychologists will present a list of specialized structures to which to turn based on the situation, to obtain more specific and lasting therapeutic support.
Furthermore, there will be forums and discussion pages. In order to promote peer-to-peer support, contrast social isolation, and parenting burden, online meetings of parents with similar experiences are organized and facilitated by a trained psychologist.
How I built it
The site will be built by a team of computer scientists and the contents will be treated by clinical and developmental psychologists.
