The Webcast: APERTUS Web Search Integration With Audio Playback

Inspiration

The need for interactive, dynamic, and accessible AI responses led us to integrate live web search functionality with the APERTUS model, allowing it to fetch real-time search results and audibly present the information.

What it does

The Webcast integrates a web search feature with the APERTUS AI model, enabling it to fetch live search results and present them as audio responses. The solution is fully containerized using Docker for seamless deployment across different environments.

How we built it

We containerized the entire application using Docker to ensure consistent environments across various machines. The integration of the web search functionality was achieved by leveraging external search APIs, while text-to-speech (TTS) technology was used to convert the model’s responses into audio.

Challenges we ran into

We faced a few hurdles in integrating the web search APIs effectively while maintaining the responsiveness of the AI model. Additionally, there were instances where the AI’s answers didn’t make complete sense, likely due to the complexity of retrieving and processing real-time search results.

What we learned

We learned a great deal about integrating external services (APIs) with machine learning models and ensuring their smooth interaction. Additionally, we explored the challenges of making AI responses more accessible through audio and the importance of containerization for deployment consistency.
