Inspiration

6 years ago I was fresh in the job market. Went to search for jobs on platform like Upwork, Fiverr but I realized that the game was rigged against Nigerians. We were disadvantages due to bad national image, lack of reliable payment platforms for freelancers to get paid in local currency, lack of right information to stay atop the job market. So over the years, I went back to uni, thought about the idea, fine tuned and fine tuned until it finally struck: A decentralized freelancing platform would level the playing field for Africans. And so Web3lancer was born.

What it does

Web3Lancer bridges traditional freelancing with blockchain innovation, creating a borderless platform where freelancers and businesses connect, collaborate, and transact with unprecedented transparency in a community reputation based system

How we built it

Our platform is built on the principles of decentralized reputation, modular identity, and compliance-first infrastructure, enabling a secure and credible environment for all participants.

Challenges we ran into

Development was stretched out by first trying to get local talents excited by the idea of a decentralized freelancing platform. Also battling with unstable electricity, sometimes having to code on mobile to catch up on schedule, or running tests on cloud workspaces with better hardware like Google idx, GitHub codespaces to ensure development runs fast and smoothly. Also trying to raise our voices and explain our mission in a region where tech isn't very mainstream to the layman/ average white collar professional.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that this years old idea, has finally a reality.

What we learned

Build what resonates with you best. Go back and find your peculiar story, and weave a solution around that. Something you can stand with, for years to come. Something you can build without funding in sight.

What's next for Web3lancer

For the next couple of years, we will be accelerating progress, making the platform known everywhere, ensuring we can change every single person's life with the solutions we are bringing to Africa and the world.
