Inspiration
Last year, we launched the Jibaros NFT collection during the Metaverso hackathon. Since then, we have participated and coordinated over 10 events, have gathered over 400 unique holders and have made POAPs and VR experiences for companies such as Porsche and Crónicas. During this bear market, we realized that it is time to get away from the computer and out to the streets in order to push blockchain adoption from the ground-up.
What it does
Our project is a simple NFT created on the Polygon network that gives the holder a sponsorship spot on our Web3 Schoolbus. This NFT can be re-sold and the art on the bus can be change to the art/branding/nft of the new holder (after paying a small fee to cover the costs of the physical impression). We are using the funds to purchase the bus, convert it into a skoolie, purchase required equipment for VR experiences, getting a 3d printer (mini makerplace on wheels) and cover the costs of other initiatives.
We are going on a 1 year trip around the island in order to bring tools to entrepreneurs that want to participate in the blockchain ecosystem, and educate artists that want to be part of the new digital rennaissance that is currently happening.
How we built it
We had previously created a contract for JibaroX, a customizable version of our Jibaros. We optimized the contract by combining the Mint, Transfer and change metadata function into one function. That way, a new NFT with a new metadata can be added with ease.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was finding out about the hackathon yesterday night. No instagram ads where available and the organizers are not active on twitter or had not announced the event on twitter. We have a big community that would've loved to participate.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Even though we learned about the hackathon yesterday, unknowingly we had launched the NFT Bus project this same weekend. Yesterday we had a chance to present the collection at a cannabis event in Ponce and we are in talks with the first 2 possible sponsors for the bus. We are very proud of finding about the event in time for us to present here today.
What we learned
Following the right people pays off, if it wasnt for @pollomaldonado (who tweeted about the event yesterday), we would not have had a chance to participate. We learned that we need to work harder in order to stay on top of current events in order for us to help spread adoption.
What's next for Web3 Schoolbus
The Web3 Schoolbus should launch by the end of October (once we have sold around 25% of our sponsorship spots) we are CURRENTLY LIVING ON THE BUS, and are just waiting to get some sponsors to get the #adoptiononwheels going.
