Inspiration

As a solo developer, I was looking for a challenge. I recently wrote my thesis on blockchain technologies. I found the ideal challenge here on devpost, which meant working with IPFS.

What it does

The completed project with act as a substitute for dropbox, allowing users to monitor a folder, which will automatically add files and will provide an option to pin files as required.

How we built it

The project was built in Java, as a maven project, which allowed for building and deployment on Github.

Challenges we ran into

Fully understanding the project and HTTP API.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Understanding the basic concepts behind IPFS and building out some features.

What we learned

A lot. I feel there's too much to mention, but learning how to interact with IPFS using Java was an accomplishment.

What's next for Web3-IPFS

Extending features for the applications features. For example, adding desktop application for easier management, and possibly a user account running in a IPFS hosted web application.
