Inspiration

The idea for Web Warriors was born out of a real need within the Seneca Babcock community for better access to localized information. Community members, researchers, and organizations alike voiced frustration with the lack of a central place to find or share news, events, and neighborhood data. Inspired by those voices, we are working with the Seneca Street CDC to create a digital platform that promotes transparency, equity, and connection. Our goal was to bridge the information gap and empower residents to take part in shaping their neighborhood’s future.

What it does

SenecaHub, our project, is a community information platform that allows users to: Explore neighborhood data, share events, publish announcements or resources, connect with local organizations, and participate in shaping the community through surveys and feedback tools. It’s a hub for residents, students, educators, researchers, and policymakers to come together around reliable, community-driven information.

How we built it

Using the problem statement laid out by the stakeholders, and sourcing information from similar situations, we designed a prototype to meet the needs of the community.

We focused on user-friendly design, accessibility, and adaptability—ensuring that anyone in the community, regardless of tech skill, could use the platform. There's room to expand and grow the platform so it can support an expanding community for years to come.

Challenges we ran into

-Designing for non-tech users: Making the platform intuitive for all age groups and tech levels took a lot of testing and iteration.

-Balancing features with simplicity: We had to carefully decide which tools to include so the site remained useful but not overwhelming.

-Limited resources: Working with a small team and limited budget challenged us to be creative with tools and partnerships.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Coming together as a team to come up with a viable solution

-Perservering through challenges and blockers to create the strongest answer to the problem possible

-Meeting project goals and deadlines on time

What we learned

-Project management and teamwork skills

-Problem solving

-Rapid iteration and development to design solutions fast
