Inspiration
In this project we were aiming to create a portfolio website that would best represent us. We thought sections that would be important to include would be an about me section (since that would be a good section for us to describe what we are all about), a portfolio section (to display our work in an insightful way), and contact me section (to have a place to reach us).
What it does
The website uses Flask to take an HTML template we made, filling in information needed for the template. Users can visit the website and see information about the owner of the website that the user decides to input. They can view information about the user in the about section, look at some featured project in the portfolio section, and send them a message in the contact section.
How we built it
To build this project, we used Flask, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. We used JQuery for some animations and Bootstrap as a framework. Flask interprets the HTML template which is styled further by the CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We aren't too familiar with Git, so definitely pushing, pulling, and merging with Git was a huge challenge. It also was a difficulty to get accustomed to HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really happy with how we styled the website. Being able to implement the animations was something we were proud of.
What we learned
We gained more experience working with Git and the languages we used in the project, which was really helpful.
What's next for Web Portfolio
In the future, we need to implement functionality into the Contact section, so that any information that people submit can be stored and acted upon. We also would like to use more of Flask for this, since we heavily coded in the HTML.
