Inspiration

I have 20+ years of experience with website management and online sales. Restaurant owners always had this unmet need of a website solution so they don’t miss the data generation that ends up in google, yelp and others.

Restaurant websites should be -extremely simple- The main problem is they tend To be outdated because the owner lost the password or just can’t afford the time to learn and engage with a CMS or backoffice solution.

What it does

WebGuy provides a great website experience for the visitor and a great way for the owner to keep up with it: text messages.

Instead of passwords or other hassles, just text your website to update it. It will even (proactively) text you some nice insights every now and then.

How we built it

We prototyped a terribly unappealing website, but the basics are there. We leveraged the JSON mode of Groq to acquire specific fragments of data that needs to be updated.

Challenges we ran into

  • The agent should have a better understanding of the information anatomy and how to update it.
  • Graphical changes are also possible but tougher to explore
  • We would've loved to enable an actual SMS channel, but it takes a couple of days of approval because of regulations
  • Time constrains allowed for a pretty terrible looking website
  • A big part of managing a restaurant website is the menu, which we didn't have enough time to mock.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

See the website update before your own eyes

What we learned

Agents for this kind of use really are production ready!

What's next for Web Guy

The demo “simulates” the SMS endpoint since an actual SMS channel requires multi-day approval.
