WeatherBot

Inspiration

A friend of ours loves studying the weather and he is on Discord pretty often, so we wanted to design a bot that would allow him to study the weather while on Discord.

What it does

Provides the current weather as well as a 5 day forecast for your specified city/state.

How we built it

We used discord.js to build the bot and heroku to deploy it.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a couple of data fetch errors and some other errors involving discord.js having some deprecated methods as it has updated quite a bit since we last touched discord.js.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a simple user-friendly app.

What we learned

We learned that apps take a lot of time to design, build, and deploy, and that it's ok to not have all the features we wanted but as long as we have something that works and can be easily accessed.

What's next for WeatherBot

We hope to add more features pertaining to hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, as well as more commands that are focus on studying the weather for meteorologists.
